Why we built myHSAPath
An honest answer to the question every independent comparison site should answer: who are we, and why should you trust us?
An honest answer to the question every independent comparison site should answer: who are we, and why should you trust us?
Health Savings Accounts are the most powerful tax tool in the US tax code — a triple tax advantage that no other account type offers. Yet most self-employed Americans either don't know about them, can't figure out if they qualify, or can't work out which custodian is actually worth using.
The 2026 ACA changes made this worse and better at the same time. Millions more Americans now qualify — all ACA Bronze and Catastrophic plans are now HSA-eligible — but nobody explained this clearly. Search results are dominated by outdated content, insurance company marketing, and comparison sites that bury the answer in fine print.
myHSAPath exists to fix this. Clear, current, honest information about HSAs — specifically for self-employed Americans and freelancers who buy their own insurance and have no employer benefits team to ask.
We are a team of independent researchers and personal finance writers who got tired of watching self-employed Americans struggle to find clear, honest HSA guidance. Most existing resources are outdated, biased toward advertisers, or written for people with employer benefits — not freelancers buying their own insurance. We built myHSAPath to fix that. Based in Canada, serving self-employed Americans.
We say "$946 in federal tax savings at the 22% bracket" not "save money on taxes." Vague is useless.
Every page shows a "Last Updated" date. We update content when rules, limits, or custodian products change.
Our ratings are based on our methodology — not who pays us more. Fidelity is #1 because it's genuinely the best, not because they gave us a bigger commission.
We cite IRS publications, official custodian fee schedules, and HealthCare.gov — not other blogs or aggregators.
myHSAPath is free to use. We cover our costs through three revenue sources. We're transparent about all of them:
When you open an HSA account through a link on our site, we may earn a referral fee from the custodian. This costs you nothing — the fee comes from their marketing budget. We earn the same commission regardless of which custodian you choose.
Our biweekly newsletter occasionally includes sponsored content from relevant financial companies. Sponsored content is always clearly labeled.
We use programmatic advertising from ad networks. These ads are served based on page content and are visually separate from our editorial recommendations.
